Geometry Adjustments
Selecting the "Adjust Geometry" button will allow you to use scroll bars to adjust various parameters. For the most part, these adjustments are also available in the Monitors & Sound Control Panel. The only exception is the high voltage control. The high voltage control should be adjusted in conjunction with the Apple approved high voltage probe and set to 27.0 KV. This adjustment should be made whenever the main deflection board is replaced.
Note: Adjustments on various parameters are saved both as user and as "Factory Default" settings.
All geometry adjustments except rotation and high voltage must be performed on all three MAC-supported resolutions. These resolutions are 640x480 @67Hz, 832x624 @75Hz,
and 1152x870 @75Hz.
There is a limitation in adjusting the Keystone. You may have to do the adjustment and save it at least two times before the Keystone can be set to zero.
In addition, selecting the "Adjust Geometry" button will automatically check the high voltage for out of range. If the high voltage is out of range, a nominal high voltage value will be written to the factory setting of the high voltage register. You should then check the high voltage value using the Apple-approved high voltage probe. If it is not 27.0 KV, set it to 27.0 KV following the procedures in the Service Source CD. For instructions, please refer to Service Source CD: Apple Studio Display 21: Troubleshooting: "Adjusting the Display after Replacing the Main Deflection Board."
Note: Out-of-range high voltage has been known to cause a monitor to lose video or turn the screen black. Therefore, it is highly recommended to select the "Adjust Geometry" button first if the symptom of no video or black screen occurs.
Beam Landing Adjustment
Selecting the "Beam Landing" button will allow you to use scroll bars to adjust beam landing parameters (left top, left bottom, right top, and right bottom). This adjustment may be made whenever a discoloration is observed at the top left, bottom left, top right, or bottom right corner of the monitor.
Note: Corner discoloration may also be caused by the location of the monitor. If the discoloration is observed, try moving the monitor around to eliminate the discoloration. If moving the monitor around doesn't alleviate the problem then click on the "Beam Landing" button to do the adjustment.
H-Focus Adjustment
Selecting the "H-Focus" button will allow you to use scroll bar to adjust dynamic focus. This adjustment should be made whenever the main deflection board is replaced. For instructions, please refer to Service Source CD: Apple Studio Display 21: Troubleshooting: "Adjusting the Display after Replacing the Main Deflection Board."
The H-Focus adjustment must be made on all three MAC-supported resolutions. These resolutions are 640x480 @67Hz, 832x624 @75Hz, and 1152x870 @75Hz.
Parameter Setting Restoration
Parmeter Setting Restoration is required to do video board replacement. For instructions, please refer to Service Source CD: Apple Studio Display 21:Troubleshooting:"Downloading Setup Parameters and Replacing the CRT/Video Board."
Recalibrate White Points
The Recalibrate White Points procedure must be performed as the last step in video board replacement. For instructions, please refer to Service Source CD: Apple Studio Display 21: Troubleshooting: Adjusting the Display after Replacing the CRT/Video Board: "Recalibrate White Points."
